Values of Guru-karya, these are the ‘Simplest’ Values

My Salutations to all Pious Souls…….
We had seen the audio cassettes of the earlier times; we  could record and keep whatever songs we  wanted and whenever we  wanted, we  could insert the cassette  into the tape-recorder and by pressing the delete button we could  also delete all the recorded songs, and then we would record new songs again. Meaning, to delete the songs on the tape, we had to use the tape-recorder. Today, you all must be wondering why Swamiji is telling us all this, we too know all this already – with this example, I want to explain something to you.
This morning when I was in contact with the Guru-energies during meditation, I obtained the knowledge that each person has a tape (recording) of the values of his previous birth, and he takes birth along with them. The way in which the physical body has good or bad habits, in the same way the soul too has good or bad ‘values’ inculcated in it.
And man takes birth along with these values. If we have taken birth with good values, then it is not necessary that the other person would also have taken birth with similar good values. This is the reason why, the ‘husband’s’ tape is different and the ‘wife’s’ tape is different; and their ‘children’ – they are born with a completely different tape altogether. You can teach your children good habits but not good ‘values’. Our habits are related to our physical body, we can improve on our habits, but we cannot improve our values because they are recorded from the previous birth itself. The way in which you can delete songs only by inserting the cassette in the tape-recorder, similarly, the old values can be deleted only by remaining in the tape-recorder that is the physical body.
If we make our ‘soul’ strong while remaining in the physical body, only then can we destroy the values of the previous birth. In order to make the soul strong – the physical body should perform such acts which make the soul happy; and once the soul becomes happy, then it becomes strong on its own and frees us from the ‘bonds’ of bad values which we have.
There are three ways by which one can make the soul strong – you should adopt the one which   you find ‘simpler’.
Donate to make the soul happy. It is said that donation is the gateway to ‘moksha (liberation)’, and that is the reason why, all forms of worship have given importance to ‘donation’.
All our lives we keep running with the desire to achieve something – meaning, we keep running in one direction only. Donation stops that run, but this only happens when you have donated - not as an investment, not to reduce bad karma or not in the form of a bribe; you should donate only for your happiness, to make your soul happy and with selflessness,  by keeping away from ego and exhibitionism.
Prayer offered selflessly. If you pray selflessly and with deep feeling, then on the one hand you connect with a higher class of energy than your own, and your soul also becomes ‘happy’ in the proximity of the higher class of energy.
When we pray, we believe that we are incapable of doing this work, this is beyond the power of our body, then the ‘ego’ of our physical body starts diminishing slowly.
When the ego of the body reduces, then soul-consciousness increases and the soul becomes strong, and the ‘values of the previous birth’ also start getting deleted.
Guru-karya performed to make the soul happy.  Look, in order to ‘donate’ you need to have ‘wealth’, in order to pray, you need a ‘mind’ free from the problems of the physical body; but you do not need either of these to perform Guru-karya.
Hence, I have selected Guru-karya as the way to free oneself from the bad values of the previous birth, I have reached up to here by traversing this path.
Sadhaks and sadhikas also perform ‘Guru-karya’, but they inform me about it.
I have done this, or they perform Guru-karya in front of me – actually there is no need for this.
According to me, the work performed by a pure soul for Paramatma is called ‘Guru-karya’; the ‘medium’ is just a physical body – whether you inform that physical body or not – what difference does it make!
It is said, ‘donate’ in such a way that the ‘donation’ made by one hand should not be known by the other. So then, why do you inform the ‘medium’ in the form of the physical body about the work done by a soul!
I firmly believe that you pour water on (you wash away) whatever work you do by ‘informing’ me and ‘forewarning’ me. If you are strengthening your soul, making your soul happy by performing ‘Guru-karya’, then where do I come in this!
If you perform Guru-karya to make your own soul happy, then the work performed through your medium will truly extinguish the bad values of your previous birth, it will free you from the bonds of the bad values.
The way in which one can delete old songs on a cassette by pressing the delete button of the tape-recorder, similarly the cassette containing the old karmas can be deleted by keeping them in the tape-recorder in the form of the physical body itself. And once the soul becomes free of the values, that state itself is called ‘moksha (liberation)’; and that has to be attained during one’s lifetime itself. I pray to God that the previous (birth’s) values get deleted from all of you and that all of you attain ‘moksha’. Lots of blessings to all of you.

Your Own
Baba Swami
